Assignment Outline for Students

I am asking that each student prepare a reading project.  Your son or daughter will present his/her project to the class on December 14th and 15th. There are four different reading project options for GRADE 1. Our Kindergarten students will do Option 4 only.

Option 1 – create a “Literature Cube” based on a favorite book.
Option 2 – create a “Literature Mobile” based on a favorite book.
Option 3 – create a “Literature Quadrarama” based on a favorite book.
Option 4 – create a “Character Mask” based on a character from a favorite book.

All projects will be displayed in class for everyone to see and enjoy. If your child would like to complete more than one activity, that would be fine.

In December, our class will have a “Hibernation Day” party. Everyone knows that the best place to read is in bed!!  Have your child pack up a favorite blanket/stuffed animal, slippers, pillow, pajamas (optional), snacks and, of course his or her favorite book(s). We will spend the entire afternoon reading, sharing our favorite stories, and completing some literacy activities.

As a culminating activity, I would like to invite all of the parents to join us in our celebration in December. I encourage all parents who plan to attend the celebration to prepare a reading project based upon a favorite childhood book and to dress-up as their favorite storybook character. The reason that we ask our parents to create reading projects and dress-up, is so that our students understand that adults love reading too!
